Basic details about the homeowner and the purpose of the remodel
The homeowner is a business owner and mother of two who is in the process of building a new home in the Seattle area. She is focused on creating a kitchen that balances functionality for her family’s daily life with a clean, modern design suitable for entertaining. While she has a clear vision for how she wants the space to function, she is having difficulty visualizing the kitchen’s layout and flow based solely on floor plans provided by her architect.
A brief summary of the space, including the current state and the intended use after the remodel
This project focuses on the kitchen in a new construction home. The architectural plans provided establish the kitchen’s structural footprint (~380 sq. ft. total), window and door placements, and ceiling heights, but do not include elevations for cabinetry layout, island configuration, or other interior details. The homeowner’s priorities include maximizing efficiency in the workflow between cooking, cleaning, and storage areas; concealing clutter with well-planned storage solutions; and creating a welcoming seating area for casual family meals.
The deliverable for this phase is a detailed 3D SketchUp model that 1) adheres to the provided floor plan and 2) fills in the missing interior details outlined in this brief. After the initial model is delivered, we will present it to the homeowner for review. A single round of bundled revisions will follow, incorporating any changes or feedback she requests at that time. The final model will then be used in a later phase of the project to select materials and develop high-quality, photo-realistic renders.
